While there won't be a big video tutorial currently, the run that was performed by Hau5test can pose as a blueprint for the time being.
Most of the aspects are similar to the PS2 version's original difficulty. Things that are different will be noted on this page.

Right away you'll notice that Snake's movement is slower compared to the PS2/HDC counterparts. But guards also have worse vision in some aspects.
First thing you should do is go to the north-east truck to get the B1 ration. It'll be useful in the Black Ninja fight.

As you walk up to the north-east fence to infiltrate, you can comfortably wait after the fence before turning left to punch the guard or let him pass without alert.

Follow the path as usual. When you get past the fences into the opening area of Zansibarland - punch the boxes (tanks?) once to distract the 3 guards.
Keep walking right to get to the trucks where the pistol is contained. Punch or kill the right guard and then make your way up into the vent to enter the facility.

You can bypass all guards without alert by first knocking on the wall to distract the upper level guard.
Walk left to get on this elevated position and walk past him without touching the guard.

Keep walking and stay to the upper wall when turning left towards the elevators. See on the radar when the guard turns left to get on your screen.
Walk into the screen with the elevators just before the guard walks off screen. Timing isn't crucial but it helps to not have an alert and keep maximum health.

Leave the elevator and turn right. We need the level 1 card out of the room from the East.
It is worth waiting for the guard to enter the screen and have him hear you when making noises on the floor.
After the guard hears the footsteps, enter the right housing and get the level 1 card.
The distracted guard outside will turn around and not see you, as you walk back to the elevator.
Take the elevator up to 3F.

Beating the Ninja on the MSX version seemingly does have no manipulation like it does on PS2 and Xbox (HDC).
Try your best to stay at the bottom side of the boxes and anticipate Ninja's standing spots. He'll always throw 3 stars
before moving again. Use the ration from the beginning to be able to take some hits and retaliate for a quicker boss fight.

Post Black Ninja

Leave north and enter the top right room to get the gas mask. it'll make the running man fight much easier.
To leave north, equip the level 2 card. To enter the gas mask room you need the level 1 card.

After having grabbed the gas mask, save and load the game to warp back to the elevator. Take it down to 1F.

I suggest taking the non-alert right side path to get out of the main building. Follow the above posted run as an example.

Not much to not here, wait for the green beret guard to walk off screen and follow after him after 1-2 seconds to avoid running into him. Causing a reset.
As soon as you enter the north building where Dr. Madnar (Petrovich) is being held, you can punch and ignore the green beret guard.

After having talked to Dr. Madnar, save and load to warp back to the beginning of lost woods to save a few rooms of walking.
Then make your way north and get to the desert to retrive some mines for the Running Man fight.

Grab at minimum 7 mines for the running man fight.

Follow the video to get through the Swamp

Video tutorial from the playlist: https://youtu.be/0RGpHbPgopc?t=98

Running man takes 7 mines to kill. You can't place the mines on top of each other like in the PS2 version.
So place one in the usual spot, then run up and place a mine at the north hallway.
Keep running clockwise and place a mine in the hallway between the top right and bottom right room.
Keep doing circles until all 7 mines have hit running man. If done correctly you will barely survive with enough health.

IMPORTANT: place the mines further away from the screen border or else Running Man won't actually trigger the mines when walking over them

Spot 1

Spot 2

Spot 3

After having fought Running Man and grabbed the level 3 card, save and load to warp back to the beginning of lost woods.

Grab the stinger missile and save load warp back to the top of Building 1, then enter lost woods again.

Ideally crawl over the mines to get some mines and not take damage.

Enter the right truck to get a free green ration for later.

  • Hind D takes 4 missiles to destroy

Because of the lag on MSX, you need to shoot fairly ahead of the hind for your missiles to land.

This can be done just like the PS2 version. Video Tutorial:

However, after having met Holly, we wil go up again to the ground floor (spiral).
Use the save load warp to return back to the elevator immediately.
Take out the level 4 card, leave the building to the south and enter again from the right side with the box method.

You need 3 explosives to open the walls to enter all the way at the bottom left into the room with the 3 grenade packs.
After having grabbed the grenades, use the save load warp to return back to the elevator.

Here's the 3 wall spots:

Walk all the way to the center elevator and take it up to meet Red Blaster.

Because the spider silk lines take way longer to break and have Snake continue walking,
the general suggestion is to beat Red Blaster in the first room with the elevator door.

One variant can be to start walking right and breaking the two left spider silk lines.
Then constantly juggle Red Blaster going left and right and throwin grenades onto the ceiling.

REMEMBER: you can't stay close to the top wall, because you grenades will land in the out of bounds and just vanish.

Generally keep to the middle wall, or bottom of the upper walkway to have the right distance.
Walk left or right, tap up to turn up, throw grenade, keep moving to either side and loop until the fight is over.

Example position where to stand away from the ceiling:

Walk up to the tower roof and explode the wall to enter the rooftop.
Put on the B2 ration to get the pigeon to land and get the secret message.

Call 140.51 to reach Kio Marv
Call 140.82 to reach Petrovich Madnar

Then walk back out again. You can save and load to teleport, but because of the longer load times
and the run (as of now) being timed RTA, it may not be worth it teleporting back outside of the rooftop.

This is where you get teleported to. If the pigeon lands on one of the bottom screens, it is faster to just walk out of the rooftop.

Walk out of the Spiral leaving through the south door. You will get spotted and have an alert happen.
Just keep waling south into the desert and the alert will drop on screen transition.

Keep waling south to enter building one and get to the central elevator to take it up to 4F.

Unlike the PS2/HDC pathing, you can actually just sneak past the camera at the north end path without being seen.
Similar to the PS2/HDC version of the game, you have to wait a short moment before keep on walking before the guard sees you.
That way you can make it through the floor without an alert.

Because Snake is running slower compared to PS2/HDC, you have to wait
in the crevice of the wall to let the “bulldozer” bypass you before walking onwards.

You can technically warp back with save loading to the elevator that leads you back to the underground B3 back to Building 1 4F.
As of now the route has not been tested if it is faster compared to what has been outlined here.

After the cutscenes are done playing, walk south and keep right to the boxes to not walk into the mines.
Get into the truck to get the mines we need later in the speedrun. Then enter the Spiral from the top.

follow the left path south and exit the bottom door with the level 4 door card

  • Each Horseman takes 6 explosions to kill (mines or grenades)

After the fight, save and load will not return you to the north door. It will just respawn you at the 2nd elevator.
Instead walk south and leave the building out of the southern door and enter the facility again using the box outside.

  • Jungle Evil takes 8 grenades to kill - however due to the msx slowness we may need to resort to shooting and punching. This makes the fight last way longer unfortunately.

Lab Building

Grab the egg, then save load warp back to the landing area where you end up after the glider flight. Saving multiple rooms to track back.

  • Night Fright takes 8 grenades to kill

For the MSX version you need to start placing down some mines, this will give NF a lot of damage before you need to worry about throwing grenades after him.

After having dissolved the last acid puddle, DON'T save load warp back to the elevator.

After having grabbed the level 9 card, save load warp to return back to the prison elevator.
This warp cuts the backtracking into half.

  • Dr. Madnar takes 7 explosions to kill (mines, grenades or C4)
  • Metal Gear D takes 12 grenades to kill.
  • Make sure to put on the rations for health refills and a faster fight
  • Gray Fox dies with 4 hits from mines

  • Big Boss takes 8 hits from the selfmade flame thrower
  • Room Route Map by SolidSpiderZnake

BE WARNED you can softlock the game by killing big boss when he is too close to the borders of the screen. As Big Boss can't finish his death animation, it'll prevent the game from finishing.

Ideally you have at least one more ration left over from the Big Boss fight or you can
grab a free ration after leaving the elevator when reaching the forest level.

Both at the elevator and at the final screen you need to kill plenty of guards for up to 2 minutes.
Time ends when Snake says “I'm out of ammo” and the cutscene starts playing.
