System Requirements

  • Multimedia PC with a Pentium II 266 MHz or higher, or 233 MHz with 4MB 3D Accelerator
  • DirectX 7 Video Cards
  • Windows 95 or later
  • 32 MB of RAM
  • 400 MB of hard disk space
  • Quad speed or faster CD-ROM drive
  • Super VGA 16-bit color monitor

Known issues

  • ALT+TAB affecting audio triggers was a known bug, according to the Readme.
  • Many Graphics Cards of the period had known issues resolvable from video drivers, according to the Readme.
  • Audio quality is rather poor. Certain music tracks do not loop properly or play at the wrong time compared to the Playstation version.
  • No analog support, diagonals will input for longer than held. You must press one direction than another (e.g. up then left) to avoid this
  • Weapon Hotkeys on keyboard, 1 through 0
  • Able to skip codecs with ESC
  • Can quickly save anywhere by pressing ESC
  • The credits and epilogue can be skipped with ESC
  • Weapon Hotkeys were poorly implemented. You can equip weapons during in-game cutscenes, in the Console release you lose control during in-game cutscenes.
  • Weapon Hotkeys were poorly implemented. You can cancel the animation of entering the PSG1 with another weapon, entering a God Mode State. If you end in a crouch, Snake will not be able to interact with triggers. If you open up a door before doing this, you can go Out of Bounds in most areas.
  • The game can crash easily if you do not play with only 0 and 1 CPU cores
