Big Boss Stage 06
- Greater number of guards compared to Normal
- Greater number of cameras compared to Normal
- Available ammo pickups are greatly reduced
- Snake takes maximum damage from enemy attacks
- You have 2 ration capacity to start, 3 after Owl, 4 after Havoc (Normal maxes at 5)
- You can only take the lower route in the box room if you quickly take out the first guard. If you choose to wait for the guard to pass, you'll need to take the upper route when approaching the second guard.
No Big Boss Ration, take the upper path back to avoid the guard
Marionette Owl
- If you shoot a doll, Marionette Owl heals a bullet of damage
- Snake dies in 4 hits
- Beginning of the fight is completely predictable
- Be careful of the shots from Marionette Owl and the Dolls, as the hitstun could prevent you from shooting him.
- Marionette Owl's i-frames are about 1.5 seconds.
- If you hit Osan, you'll see Marionette Owl fall as well, indicating his position among the dolls.
- Timed properly, you can shoot early and let the travel time of the bullet land as i-frames end.
- You can open the menu to keep better track of Owl (IGT ABUSE).
- Don't neglect your health, use a ration if you take too many shots.
- Choose your shots wisely, be surgical
Beginning Strategy - Triangular Pattern
- Hold upleft and shoot (SHOT ONE)
- Shoot left or downleft around this tile (SHOT TWO)
- Shoot right or downright around this tile (SHOT THREE)
- From here, Marionette Owl can do different attack patterns.
- Move downleft, anticipating a good pattern where Marionette Owl isolates himself.
- Marionette Owl only needs to be shot three more times.
- At the end of an attack pattern, Marionette Owl will return to the triangular pattern like the beginning of the fight. He can choose to go to any of the three points of the triangle.
Attack Patterns
Clockwise Wall (BEST)
- A good pattern, Owl will rotate clockwise along the walls twice. He can choose to start this pattern in the middle of the room, but will stick to the walls once he gets there. This is probably the best pattern, as it is very slow and easy to follow. This pattern allows you to lead your shots (i.e. shoot before the i-frames are finished).
Clockwise Diagonal
- A good pattern, but it is hard to draw. Owl will move diagonally, bouncing around the room in a clockwise pattern. This pattern can also start in the top left corner. He can move left at the top or right at the bottom before moving diagonally. This is a slow pattern (like the clockwise wall pattern), but be careful in leading your shots.
Short Path
- A good pattern, however it is so short that Marionette Owl will return to the triangular pattern like the beginning of the fight.
White Squares Top/Bottom
- A good pattern, Owl will stay along the top wall, stopping at white squares. At the end of the blue line, he will return to the triangular pattern like the beginning of the fight.
- A good pattern, Owl will stay along the bottom wall, stopping at white squares. At the end of the yellow line, he will return to the triangular pattern like the beginning of the fight.
Stacking Dolls (BAD)
- The bad pattern, where Marionette Owl stacks with the dolls by the top door, and then moves linearly with them. They will snake around the room. He can be in any position in the line. Be very careful with your shots, as it is easy to accidentally hit a doll in this pattern. Pause Buffering/IGT Abuse recommended if this pattern happens.
