Kept you waiting, huh?
And yes, I do believe ‘union’ is the right word for this place. An extraordinarily bonded group of people from all around the world with an incredibly niche interest, within a niche interest. In every sense of the word, MGSR is a community, first and foremost. And there’s a lot on the horizon. So let’s take a look at what’s new, and what’s coming up.
First of all, hello! My name is Mack, and along with a slew of new additions to the MGSR crew, (which we will get to later) I have accepted a position of Writing Coordinator for this blog. As such, I hope to leverage the numerous talented and creative minds within MGSR to have regular essays, news and articles posted here. As opposed to once every *checks last post* four months!? Yeah, we can do better than that. And we will.
I hope to have something new on here at least once per week. There may be a bit of time to ramp up to that as schedules are organized, topics curated and kinks are worked out, but before long, you can expect this place to be a steady source of the latest and greatest in Metal Gear, speedrunning, and especially, all things that combine those two. So be sure to bookmark this site! You’ll be wanting to come back often.
In other news, if you check out our homepage, you will see a ballooning list of upcoming events that feature MGSR runners. From No Glitches Allowed, to UKSG, GorlsGoFast and more. The MGSR community is being represented in an ever-growing number of various marathons. Check them out and mark the dates on your calendar so you don’t miss them.
Furthermore, the next iteration of our increasingly popular League events is right around the corner! This time, it will be a leaderboard of runners for everyone’s favorite remake; Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. We’ve got a fantastic roster of runners ready to compete for the crown this year, and I for one can’t wait for this one to kick off. Keep an eye out for a short write-up and wicked video to officially announce the event and the line-up of wonderful people taking part. That should be posted right here very, very soon.
There’s more? You betcha! The entire website is getting a solid once-over. You could call it an overhaul, but it will be a gradual, incremental improvement sort of thing. Don’t be alarmed if menu items change, UI shifts around, or the general aesthetic of the site looks unfamiliar. We’ve got a lot going on behind the scenes right now, but it’s all in the name of improving the experience here. Of course, feedback is not only welcome, but encouraged.
Finally, as mentioned, MGSR has added a bunch of new staff to the team. I want to take a quick moment to welcome them all, as well as recognize and introduce those that have been behind the curtain for years.
